Vietnam is home to 83.6 million people, with 33% of the population under the age of fifteen. This creates a burden in the country educational system for children.
"Global Ministries" reports that over half of the country's students do not continue on to secondary school. This means that these children stop learning to read and write after 5th grade.
In rural areas, schools are not equipped to provide enough teachers, books, or chairs for their students. Damage roads make transportation to and from school treacherous, especially where children have to travel miles to reach the nearest school.
Primary education is free from the first grade to fifth grade. After that many students drop out early to find work to help in supporting their families even when society encourages all children to continue secondary school and finish high school.
That’s where SAVICE comes in! We help keep students from dropping out and continue to secondary school. |
