Why organize a golf tournament?
A golf tournament is the leading fundraising activity in America. The popularity of golf is at an all-time high, and growing each year. The golf tournament benefits everyone involved, the players, sponsors, volunteers, charitable organization and the beneficiary of the charitable organization. It is a fun activity for golfers. While playing the sport they love, they contribute to a good cause at the same time. The sponsors benefit by having their businesses and services promoted to golfers for the day. The volunteers are motivated to contribute their time for a good charitable cause.
What happens at a golf tournament?
Golfers come out to play 18 holes of golf with the opportunity to win prizes for the best score, longest drive, hole-in-one etc. The tournament is followed by a dinner and silent/live auction. Other activities include a putting contest and raffle drawing etc…
I am not an average golfer, can I join the tournament?
The tournament is open to golfers with all abilities since the scramble format of competing is team friendly. Each team consists of 4 golfers with different abilities competing for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Each foursome will play as a team. After each player has teed off, the best shot is selected. Each player hits and again the best shot is selected. This continues until the ball is holed out.
How does the event raise money?
Golfers pay a fee to play that covers the green fee, cart rental and lunch/dinner. The tournament organizer adjusts the per person fee to include a donation to the foundation. Most of the funds are raised through sponsorships, contests and raffles.
What are Sponsors?
Sponsors are either individuals or businesses that help offset the cost of running a golf tournament by providing money, services or prizes. Sponsorships can also come from friends and business associates. Their donations become raffle prizes that are used as awards or auction items.
I am not a golfer, how can I get involved?
You can volunteer for the event. Before the event, you can help the team organizing the tournament. During the event and dinner, you can help with registration, collecting and organizing prizes etc. Your involvement will change the future of a child. Please contact us.
How does a silent auction work?
Donations from sponsors are displayed at the event with a bidding sheet showing the minimum bid amount. Bidders who want the item can write the amount they would like to bid on the item. At the end of the auction period, the highest bidder will win the item. |
